Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Mom had to be hospitalized last week, due to a virus infection, along with diarrhoe. :( She's doing better again and was allowed home on Saturday afternoon. We have ordered a hospital bed - we're going to put it into the living room - so she doesn't have to climb the inner stairs to her bedroom anym...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

  That's exactly it! As for you going after cows with butterfly nets: I tried to stay off meat myself and ended up with dreams of being chased by ham sandwiches... Mom's resting a lot these days. Whatever helps her. Timmy is guarding her, of course. He's dividing his time between her and m...

Re: What are you currently reading?

The Punishment She deserves by Elizabeth George
#20-something in a series.

I also discovered the "Hamish Macbeth" series of books by M.C. Beaton. Light reading, but amusing and very scottish.

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

I hope you had a nice Easter!
Mom is resting at the moment, and so am I. My cold is getting better, but very slowly. It doesn't really help that our GP's are on holiday. As well as their substitutes... What's the point in being a substitute when they are taking their holidays at at the same time?

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

I've been trying to send an Easter card for days, but something's wrong with the WLAN connection here, it keeps breaking down. As soon as holidays started, a bout of flu knocked me off my feet. I'm still out of order. Of course it's the worst time of all to come down with flu. But so far I haven't p...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

:ghug: Oh my! :ghug: Mom's home as well, she was released home last Tuesday. Right now, she's resting a lot. The furry nurse helps. Radiotherapy sessions will start on April 30th. Until then, it's lots of resting for her and keeping up with the Grinch (for she IS the Grinch currently, because she re...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Thank you. We can do with the hugs.

Mom is still composed, but she keeps herself occupied to distract herself. Normally I'd do the laundry and the cleaning, but I let her do it, anything to keep her occupied and distracted.

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Well ... we had some time to let it sink in. Mom has stage 2 bladder cancer. The surgery to remove the bladder is due onTuesday, March 12th. She'll leave for hospital on Monday morning. I'll be with her this time, my sister couldn't get the day off. The plan is to remove the bladder as well as lymph...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

More appointment-juggling...

The hospital called my sister this morning and apologized for their messing up the appointments! They offered an appointment tomorrow morning, 10 a.m. Luckily she has Wednesdays off, since she only works part-time. Hopefully it'll work this time. We need results.

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

My sister mixed up the appointments. She took notes but apparently she misheard the date. When they arrived at the hospital today, they were told that the appointment is due next Monday (March 4th). :paperbag: :paperbag: :bang: :bang:

Another week of waiting ahead of us. :bang:

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Mom's next appointment is on Mondy, 13:30 h. My sister will go with her. Since I have used almost all my overtime hours and I suppose I'll need my holiday for hospital visits anyway, we agreed it might be better if only my sister accompanies her. We compared our lists of questions and it was identic...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

She's back home already, Surgery on Friday, released from hospital on Sunday! The surgery went well, however, they weren't able to fully remove the tumor. Now we're waiting for the lab results and the hospital to contact us again to discuss the further treatment. The wait straining. She's doing OK, ...
