Re: Biological Finding I Just Learned...

Uh oh, some people will not like this :D :D On a more serious angle: British historian Mary W. Beard repeatedly got slammed because of her conclusion(based on facts like DNA analysis and the extend of the Roman Empire) that there might have been black people among Roman Britons. There's actually a l...

I'm so glad to hear this! The UTI should be over in a few days. Timmy gives her a high-5-paw!

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

So nice to see you around, Allegra! I'm sorry to hear about George - we had to have our Leah euthanized in late 2015, it was her time, too. She had been ill for a while and when she stopped eating, we knew it was time to let her go. In February 2016, Timmy moved in, we got him from my brother-...

Re: Doctor Who

Matt Smith regenerated into Peter Capaldi last week. I wasn't able to follow closely throughout the last weeks, but every time I watched, somehow Matt's hyper-acting disturbed me a little. I liked "The Day of the Doctor" however. Reminded me of why I miss Tennant.

Re: What are you currently reading?

I'm currently reading "I know a Secret" by Tess Gerritsen Before that, I read "Murder for Christmas" by Francis Duncan, an author I didn't know so far. The book was a christmas present, and I liked it. It's very Agatha-Christie-Style (the author and Mrs Christie are contemporary)...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

My colleagues are on sick leave one after another. :D I just hope I'll be spared the flu this year.

Not much to do currently, so I'm a little bored at work. :D

I treated myself with Sherlock, Season 4, and a new book, but I have yet to watch Sherlock.

Re: Pets...

I remember Jessie and Lea getting like that. Timmy's about 8 years now (we don't know his exact age, but the vet agreed with our estimation), and he's still full of energy, and playful. Right now, he doesn't like to go out that much, due to the weather, so he lets off steam indoors  We've taken...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

I think we're on about the same latitude, Paddy. We've had some very blustery days here, with horizontal precipitation, ice sandwiches (a layer of snow, a layer of ice, a layer of snow), and wind chills below 0. The high today is -5 C by 5 PM, which is warmer than we've been for quite a while. That...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Who would have thought real life might outshine House of Cards? Bad weather over here. America may face its coldest winter of all times (according to a certain President-impostor), but we're facing hurricanes over here right now. Bad blizzard yesterday, bad hurricane today (literally). The train and...

Re: Sad and shocking news

I'm still in shock. Such a special person, and such a special voice. Still no cause of death has been named. Apparently, she was dealing with mental health problems (bipolar), like so many people. I'm not speculating whether she has committed suicide - it's tragic either way. https://www.youtube.com...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Seriously? That was a beautiful belated Christmas Present! I had a very nice belated present as well! Our boss granted all of us a one-off extra payment. And even though 50% goes off (taxes), the payment was large enough to keep my balance in credit. None of us expected this to happen (hehe, his son...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

t's not simply a matter of voting him out of office - he needs to leave before something happens that none of us will recover from. And I mean the whole world, a nuclear nightmare. We have nothing to stop him, legally, from pressing the button. I know it sounds crazy, but tackling him or disobeying...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Here we are, 2018! I needed some rest. It wasn't just that I still can't bend my knee (at least I don't need to use the crutches all of the time anymore, but I'm still wearing the bandage) - I felt so exhausted, I couldn't bring myself to switch on the computer. For the first time, mom and I did rea...
