Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

*sigh* I can't stand it. I just can't. I am so done. Not. Never.

Where in the hell is Congress?

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Seriously? That was a beautiful belated Christmas Present! It was! I had a very nice belated present as well! Our boss granted all of us a one-off extra payment. And even though 50% goes off (taxes), the payment was large enough to keep my balance in credit. None of us expected this to happen (hehe...

Re: My dear Joon...

I just saw that my DNA results are in... Okay. I'm going to open them now. And it says 46% - Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein - whoa! 39% - Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Serbia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, L...

Re: My dear Joon...

Duane's DNA profile came today. It breaks down as 48% - England - and we figured that 27% - Irish/Scottish/Welsh - :yay: I got my cushable! 17% Scandinavian - which we didn't know; we have nothing on Marlin's side of the family to tell us anything, so it may be where his ancestors are from. An...

Re: My dear Joon...

I saw something yesterday that got me to thinking about this year. Anne Patchett wrote an article about not shopping for a year. Specific no shopping, based on a friend's decision back in 2009. The friend looked around and thought she had enough, or too much, stuff. So, for one year, Elissa - the fr...

Re: My dear Joon...

It's day 10 of the Laundry Room Crisis... Good news. The little space heater is running. Bad. Somebody keeps leaving the door open! The heat belongs in the room! You cannot heat the room, and melt the pipes by leaving the door open! It must be somebody new because I told Frank that when the hallways...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

We just had the neatest thing happen.

The Honey and I have lunch on Friday's at the Steak 'n Shake, and today, somebody paid our bill. I was so stunned. I asked who was it? and the server couldn't tell me. God bless them! That was so sweet, and thoughtful. *happy tear*

Re: My dear Joon...

It is so cold here. It's freezing all along the eastern seaboard. My great niece and nephew are having snowball fights without having to leave their Georgia home; my sister must be happy, as long as she can keep warm. Here, our pipes have frozen in the laundry room. My neighbor invited me to go to t...

smitethepatriarchy: People in San Francisco are spending $37 for untreated, unfiltered water — and it is so popular, stores are apparently having a hard time keeping it in stock. Other Silicon Valley insiders are gathering and storing their own spring water, which has not been treated. Consuming “r...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Did you hear about his latest tweets after Kim Jong Un spoke to his people and mentioned the "red button" on his table ("My button is bigger than yours and it actually works")? This whole "mine's bigger than yours" boasting sounds like a kindergarten game - except that...

Re: The Ivy Bush - General Chat

Here we are, 2018! I needed some rest. It wasn't just that I still can't bend my knee (at least I don't need to use the crutches all of the time anymore, but I'm still wearing the bandage) - I felt so exhausted, I couldn't bring myself to switch on the computer. For the first time, mom and I did re...

Re: My dear Joon...

Just got an email from ancestry.com , and they're letting us know that they've gotten our DNA kits and in two to four weeks, we'll have our results. There were commercials all over the place during the Holidays from a handful of these genetic companies, so Duane and I decided to have a go with ours....
