Hyperion Series by Dan Simmons

Postby Withywindle » Wed Sep 15, 2010 4:35 pm

Consists of four books. Hyperion, The Fall of Hyperion, Endymion and The Rise of Endymion. Well worth reading. Simmons is a fabulous storyteller. It also has John Keats the best poet ever born in them... after a fashion anyway. ;-) Epic Space Opera.

I read these years ago. I loved them all at the time, but I think the first two are better. The second two ignore or change a lot of continuity from the first two, which is kind of annoying.

You know, it's bizzare that sci-fi and fantasy are some of my favourite genres, yet I read very, very little of them, preferring to watch films instead.

The closest I get to reading fantasy is Pratchett, the Russian "Night Watch" books, and 'The Witcher'.
