Haha, for sure! And it's the day after we leave off the 2AM shifts, so I'm not really going to know what day or what time it is anyway!

I've only got plans for this coming Friday afternoon, with Desolation. I am in awe of you, Joy!

Haha, Joy, have lots of fun! I know you will.

And prepare some :coffee:

I haven't yet ordered my tickets, still looking for a 2Dversion, since I'm sure that the 3Dversion will give me a hellofaheadache again.

That requires some 'splaination, that does, but I don't think I want to know :/ . Hope you're sleeping, Joy - preferably on an empty tummy  .

Okay, we're back...

Everybody said "Oh, no!" and burst out laughing at the end!!! A couple of people behind us, said "Damn you, Peter Jackson!" and "We gotta wait another whole year, again?"

(to Joy: yeah, I see what you mean about the forelegs. Quite troubling.)

Ahhh! Thank goodness! Someone to rant over the film with! My sisters haven't seen it yet, nor any of my coworkers... slackers all of them!

Overheard at the theatre: I know it's been a long time since I read the book to this, but I don't remember any hot ass-kicking girl elves - do you?

Haha, my theatre wasn't that full -- although the single film midnight showings were mostly sold out. I think there were maybe two dozen, which was nice because we all got to sprawl out and put our feet up without worrying about kicking anyone in the head.

Found this as a reblog on tumblr, and wanted to post it here as is written, but couldn't see how.

asiswolf (writes):

You know, Thranduil is actually the only Third Age Elven ruler who isn’t using a Ring of Power to protect his lands. Elrond has Vilya, Galadriel has Nenya, and even Cirdan (ruler of the Grey Havens) had Narya until he gave it to Gandalf.
So for thousands of years Thranduil has been defending his lands on his own against Orcs, Goblins, and Giant Spiders, plus Sauron setting up a summer home in his forest. And yet his hair STILL looks perfect.

[Btw, if you aren't following medievalpoc, you should (and I'm not the only one who thinks so - I'm repeating this from others.) I have learned more in an half-hour about People of Color in European Art History, than in my entire life...and I'm old.]

Thranduil was an interesting development. I need to do some rereading over the holiday, but his portrayal in the film definitely made me start thinking about modern politics.

Yeah. Until I came across that paragraph I posted, I had no idea that he was without one of the Rings - which I should just figure (three for the Elves, means just that.) Politics haven't changed all that much since the First Age.
