What you said, Halasian, except I found Voyager ridiculous and novelty-oriented — and a bit of a soap opera. As for Enterprise, the dog was the source of tension and conflict a lot of the time, judging from the one episode I watched for as long as I could. Archer whined so much I wanted to slap him! If a Star Trek captain doesn't swagger and kick butt I don't want to know!

Kirk and Sisko were the best for that, Voyager wasn't too bad and the other two weren't particularly good.

Is it me or is the new Kirk basically Will Smith? He's not a leader, he got the Enterprise by default, not because he'd earned it, and by driving a coach and horses through the timeline by having Nero change the past, it means that none of TOS ever happened.

And why was Spock snogging Uhura when it was Nurse Chapel who had a crush on him?

He didn't like her?

In TOS, he always had a kind of tension thing going on where she mooned over him like a puppy and he considered it, but thought, "Nah!"

Remember Amok Time, when he's going through Pon Farr and she makes him the soup? He's tempted but he's got a princess waiting for him back home (so he believes), but the temptation is quite definitely there.

Amok Time was one of my favorite episodes, and my favorite scene was the one with Spock trying to explain to Kirk Vulcan biology . It still cracks me up.

It's amazing how someone so logical can be so embarrassed about sex. I suppose it was a sop to the times but actually... he was more embarrassed about exposing his vulnerability by expressing emotion.

Gaaaah! I'm such a geek!

Heh! I'm glad to be in a place where I can geek away without attracting funny looks.

Speaking of Star Trek, the newest movie was on last night and I taped it. Four hours! If there's nothing on to watch this evening, I'll pop it in.

Four hours! I'd record it so I could take toilet breaks. :/

Watched "Into Darkness" last night and liked it a lot. I didn't watch it while it was at the theatres (3D), but I bought the DVD, and I love the movie. Ben Cumberbatch is a genius... :D

I agree, with everything you said :) .

I'm looking forward to the next installment of "Sherlock". In my book, Cumberbatch is the best Holmes since Jeremy Brett; Martin Freeman is just terrific as Watson...and, though I'm not particularly choosy when it comes to guys, I do love how he wears his hair, as the deducting detective :D !)
