The Expendables

Postby Shuggy » Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:21 am

Click here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6RU5y2fU6s, then wash your hands - they'll have blood, sweat and testosterone on them now.

One of the greatest action ensemble casts in decades (if not EVER); high on boom - low on CGI; buckets of blood, bone-crunching action (Stallone allegedly factured his neck during filming); what's not to like?

Apparently quite a lot - Total Film and Empire magazines gave The Expendables two and three stars respectively. Despite admitting that the film was fun, loud and full of spectacle - basically delivering what it promised, their main complaints were lack of story and less than brilliant acting?! WTF?! I mean, seriously - did we watch First Blood (widely considered a classic) for the plot? Did we watch 'Commando' for the acting and story? What were they expecting from this film apart from entertainment?

We shall see what you all think.

I have a mild interest in seeing this film, but my 16 year old brother and all his friends...and their dads...are convinced it's going to be the best movie they've ever seen. :P

Like you said...I don't think most people are expecting much of a plot, they just want to see the action stars do action scenes.
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not whither; deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken; a light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be blade that was broken; the crownless again shall be King."
