Help identify a movie

Tried the Plot search at IMBD but could not get the right search phrases to help.

The story as remembered is about a man who imigrates to the US midwest in the late 1800's, Wisconsin maybe, and builds a barber shop. The film shows how the town and his business grows. His son goes off to fight in WWI then comes home and gets involved with gansters in the 1920's.

Any ideas on which movie it is? :?

If the story took place in NY it could be the Al Capone Story.....

The barber shop burns down and is rebuilt much better than it was. The film might have been in B&W. Of course my memory on that could be wrong.

The version of The Four Feathers made in 1939 is my favorite and I remembered it as being B&W. A few years ago I stumble on it playing on TCM and it was in color so I got all PO'd at Ted Turner for colorizing another classic. However a viewing of the credits noted that the movie was filmed in color, despite my recollection of it being B&W.
:thud:

See that's all I can find, too :?. If only Al had been a dough boy and his dad had left Brooklyn to barber in Chicago, we'd have it.
