"The Scandalous Lady W" has received rather mixed reviews. Sounds like "Moonfleet" all over again. I don't know... I just don't like Natalie Dormer. So far, when I watched a series she was in, I never liked the parts she played (including "Elementary"). There's something about her I really dislike, though I can't explain what it is. When I read the reviews, I noticed that most of the people kept complaining about her, too. Her acting, her way of speaking etc. Seems I'm not the only one...

Oh no! *sigh*

Have you seen Cilla yet? The more I see it, the more I love it.

No, I haven't hat. Will have to order it via UK import, since it's not available in Germany. I'm currently watching the price :D

War and Peace starts next week on cable here.

Originally, I thought it might make NatGeo, but now I see it's set for A&E and Lifetime. It's a four-part mini-series (each part over 2 hours). Aneurin plays Boris Drubetskoy, who - according to Wiki - is the

ambitious son of Princess Anna Mikhaylovna Drubetskaya. Army officer; fought at Austerlitz and later married Julie Karagina, thereby becoming rich. Childhood friend of Countess Rostova.

I read the book 28 years ago (I decided to read it, Anna Karenina and Crime and Punishment during my pregnancy; I already knew the outcome of the last two, so I read WAP first...good thing, too. Lots of characters.) The reviews are already in for Part 1, and everybody's raving about Count Nikolai Rostov's horse and his death scene...the horse, not the count. *giggling hysterically*

I saw "Mary" online a few month back. Aneurin got very good reviews for his role as Lord Darnley :D .

Well I watched it, and I think it was a good attempt - however there were lots of omissions, as well as loose ends, and I felt like the movie "cantered" through her life, instead of taking the time to tell her story. Aneurin made the best out of the little screen time he had (what was, it, 10 minutes or so?). :D

However, people on twitter go all mad (in a positive way) about "War and Peace". This is really good news.

Of War and Peace...

Wonderfully done. The decision to stick so closely to Pierre throughout this, was very smart - and which was very like PJ's to cleave to Frodo and the Ring in Fellowship. Of course it meant that other characters had less (like Aneurin's Boris), but showcasing this illegitimate son - who comes off as a bit of an awkward mess at the beginning and was not meant to inherit his father's title or estate - grows in such nobility that by the end, I found myself weeping.

Tolstoy would have loved this. It has his philosophy of spiritual life all over it.

His next project is 13, currently airing in GB. I heard it's very good. Nothing but good reviews so far.

I would really like to see Aneurin do something again, like he did in Cilla. I hope this is it - not that supporting roles don't matter, they really, truly do. But, he needs to stretch out.

Btw, that's what I'm finding so disheartening about Elijah Wood. The stuff he's done over the past 5-10 years just hasn't kept up with his initial promise. Poor choices in work (Christ we get it! No more Frodo! Enough with the horror!) - though his voiceover stuff is great - but when he's on the screen, I see him trying; he's no kid anymore, can't fall back on that. Now Dan Radcliffe has grown tremendously, imho, since the Potter series - oh the risks he takes! I would just have liked to have seen more from Lij.

I realize it's just my opinion, but I really want him to shine again...do something that can go into syndication and I can buy for my son and his house brothers.
