How do you like your horror?

Heh! It's good to be a fan. What else do you like that he's done?

There's a parody of Hitchcock films called High Anxiety, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein - my favorite of all,

I take it you're a fan of Gene Wilder. He's pretty cool.

Young Frankenstein (Inga: He vould have an enormous schwanzstucker) and Silent Movie (Marcel Marceau: No!) :lmao:

For a while after seeing the Spanish Inquisition song and dance routine everytime we ran across someone that could not be persuaded to stop doing something we would say 'You can't torquemada it.' and laugh. Some people did not understand the joke.

Same as after seeing the Monty Python skit we would always come out with 'Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition' whenever someone said they did not expect something.

I read a book once that a helicopter pilot wrote about his experience in Viet Nam with the 1st Air Cav in 1966. He wrote that he read The Lord of the Rings while there and sometimes talked like Gollum . The other people in his unit had no idea who or what Gollum was and thought he had a lisp.

Rats! I had to leave before I finished my post!

I do like Gene Wilder a lot, but I wanted to mention the other ones like Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Men in Tights - not a favorite but it's okay - and Spaceballs.

Brooks' trademark of using Nazis and, when appropriate to the period, Prussian soldiers, is hysterical. Like the chorus line with Madeline Khan in Blazing Saddles - a brilliant send up of Marlene Dietrich's number from Destry Rides Again -, and the closet bondage scene with Korman and Leachman in High Anxiety.

Mel skates along the very edge of acceptability -- and only *just* gets away with it. I love him to bits for it. In any other hands, what he does at those times would be downright offensive, but Mel makes it so funny you don't mind.

I loved watching all those Poe short stories performed by Vincent Price in the 1960's:
The Pit and the Pedulum, The Telltale Heart, The Cask of Amontillado, The House of Usher, Eleanora...etc.

Weren't those filmed in black & white? Vincent Price was awesome in those roles.

Vincent Price for the win. Peter Lorre was also brilliant. Am I the only one here who saw A Comedy of Terrors and thought it was hilarious?

No! That is my favorite 'horror' movie! Basil Rathbone didn't do much comedy as far as movies go, and he's the straight man in this. I love all those guys.

No. Have you got a link to it? I'm a member of Lefora Horror Classics, and they've probably got a link there.
