A friend of mine of was just telling me about Jersey Boys, and how much they enjoyed it. I would like to go to see Tenderly, the Rosemary Clooney one.

Fred Smith - Dust Of Uruzgan Heard a song on 4ZzZ this morning and it was quite touching. When I researched it I found out he did a whole album about the Afghanistan war. I ordered it.

Here is the title track live with a slide show in the background...

Got an app on my iPhone which tells you what samples (if any) a song has used, or if it's a cover version, etc, and that has led to some awesome finds. 'One Way Glass' by Manfred Mann being one.

I'm not sure whether this app is just cool or disillusioning. :slowblush: But if it leads to some great finds, then I think "cool" outbalances. ;)

Woman by Rhye, a male duo with a truly feminine sound. Check it out. Michael Milosh is amazing!

I've recently discovered Mediaeval Baebes and have been listening back through their catalog. Quite beautiful even with a few quirky songs through the mix. Here is their latest video...

Another recent discovery of mine is the German quasi medieval folk band, FAUN.

They use traditional instruments with a bit of electronica to tie it all together.

Wonderful, what a voice! I have loved Iranian culture since my late teens - a real treat, Hal. :)

There were three ravens sat on a tree
Downe-a-downe, hay-a-downe, a-downe
They were as blacke as they might be
With a-downe, downe, downe.
Then one of them said to his mate,
"Where shall we now our breakfast take?"
With a-downe, derrie, derrie, downe, downe.

Downe in yonder deep-greene field,
Downe-a-downe, hay-a-downe, a-downe
There lies a Knight slain under his shield,
With a-downe, downe, downe.
His Hounds they lie downe at his feete,
So well do they their Master keep,
With a downe, derrie, derrie, downe, downe.

His Hawkes they flie so eagerly,
Downe-a-downe, hay-a-downe, a-downe
There is no Fowle that dare him come nie
With a-downe, downe, downe.
Downe there comes a fallow Doe,
As great with yong as she might goe
With a downe, derrie, derrie, downe, downe.

She lifted up his bloody head,
Downe-a-downe, hay-a-downe, a-downe
And kist his wounds that were so red,
With a-downe, downe, downe.
She got him up upon her back,
And carry'd him to earthen lake,
With a downe, derrie, derrie, downe, downe.

She buried him before the Prime
A-derrie, she was dead herself ere Evensong Tyme
God send every Gentleman
Such Hawkes, such Hounds, and such a Leman...

I actually discovered Cordial Factory a while back. They played ywo great songs on Triple J Unearthed, and so when their 5 song EP came out, I bought it. I tend to only listen to the 1st song (What Did You Ask For) & the last song (Wasteland) though. Quite good they are.
