it's not any point that's extreme, just in the sense that the two ends of a spectrum can be called one extreme or the other.
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not whither; deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken; a light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be blade that was broken; the crownless again shall be King."

Understood.

Extremes are sometimes required in order to define a good middle ground. ;)

In danger of getting back on topic.. ;) thank you Em and Shuggy for the banners. I have to say I like them both simply because they are both very different interpretations of what we were looking for :)

Anyway, onto the theme. Agreed that the banner doesn't match the current theme, but that isn't a problem, this theme was just something to get us off subsilver. We can look around for one that matches better and then tweak it as far as the details go. What sort of main colors would people like to see?

I like this slate blue/grey and any colors that compliment it - it's not so much a strain on my eyes. Anything that's not garishly bright.

Dark, blood reds and blacks are good. Deep Purple is good - the colour AND the band.

:D Like the color pallet from Star Wars - spare on the whites, yellows and blues, with shiny metallics, olive green, flame orange and camel...

However - no point asking in this forum - you'll be lucky to get any more than 2 replies.

Start another universal poll; you might get about ten replies.

I'm a fan of lots of dark-ish neutrals..the tans and greens we've had in the past, this one...As long as it's not black with 70 different neon-color accents that kill the eyeballs, i think it's good. :P

Well the main colors in the banner are green, brown, red, and blue. I lean more toward the green and brown for the main forum colors as long as we can make sure it doesn't look too fantasy/elvish. Red and blue are very comic-ey colors so it might be good to include them somewhere. I'm not very good at artistic stuff though.

My first thought, which I am not sure is any good - was to have a sort of wood desk background and a notepaper/sketchpad look for the forums. It would follow the background that's in the banner.
See where the edge of the forums now is that kind of ragged paper-edge? If we made that texture notepaper instead we could keep the ragged edge.
Just sorta thinking out loud, it might end up being too busy having two textures involved.
"The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man. Nothing else that he builds ever lasts. Monuments fall, nations perish, civilizations grow old and die out, and after an era of darkness new races build others. But in the world of books are volumes that have seen this happen again and again and yet live on, still young, still as fresh as the day they were written, still telling men's hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead."

By the looks of it, I don't think anyone's even bothered, bar us four.

That's a very clever design. I like it!
To err is but human, to forgive divine, and to design is AWESOME! :8
