Well google does know everything there is to know, so I don't see why it wouldn't.

I see I'm going to have to keep an eye on you two.. :P

Sitting on the fence here, and legal issues notwithstanding, G-site I like because it is fun and unusual and to be honest, if I googled movies/Tolkien/games etc and that site name came up, I sure as hell would click on it  BUT it is a bit freakin long lol, whereas something like "Secondary Worlds" would be an easier URL. I think we'd need to look into the legal side of G-site though, as we obviously couldn't use "G-site" as the URL. One thing we could do though if we don't use G-site as the actual site title, it could be our subtitle...like:

Secondary Worlds
Where the geek shall inherit the earth!

as it does describe us all very well lol.

Keep an eye on me? Really? I can't imagine why...

I think the Gsite bit will have to go into it somewhere, and there can't be legal issues over the tag line I don't think... Just 'Geek Earth' sounds a bit silly I think though...

I don't personally like the name 'G-site', (not even a little bit ;)) and completely agree with what TomCotton said:

Seems like a name like that will keep away or chase away more folks, or attract folks looking for some porn. G-SITE, G-Spot, G-String
I agree that a purely Tolkein sounding name would not be right, but the site should not be labled as 'Geek', either.

Secondary Worlds, on the other hand, I like very much. :) (with or without the subtitle)

I agree with TomCotton's comment, but another association that instantly popped to mind was Google (gmail, gspace, etc.).

It's sounds like we need something in the middle of Tom's suggestion and Shuggy's  I actually had an idea on the way to work this morning but I'll be damned if I can remember now what it was :/

I will just reiterate - the site name I am suggesting is 'The Geek Shall Inherit The Earth' - G-Site is an abbreviation - not the title!

Hmm - how about we take something quintessentially fantasy and something quintessentially sci-fi and stick them together. Something like Dragon's Moon, or Hobbit's spaceship, or even magical phasers.

I quite like Dragon's Moon actually...

That's a really good one too, Grathy. :)

Yes, Shuggy, I realize it is an abbreviation. ;)

Hmmm... Secondary Worlds reminds me too much of Second Life... :|
I like the Sci-fi/fantasy combo idea though.

Yeah, and the symbol for the site could be a dragon flying away toward Saturn. :P ;) :)

Dragon's Moon does sound pretty good. I chose Secondary Worlds because sci-fi/fantasy authors and film makers invent a frame of reference that might not exist in our universe but in theirs it makes sense. Anything is possible within the bounds of their invented universe.

Maybe Secondary Universes would be better. I did some more research on Secondary Worlds and found a book of the same name published in the late 1960's.

What ever is chosen needs to be descriptive yet succinct. :)

How about 'alt.worlds'? It's not in use either.

It serves the same purpose as Secondary Worlds, and just looks geeky as hell!

I think a few reasons why "Ringbearer" worked were that it was easy to remember, described obviously what the site was about, and could be abbreviated easily. We need something to follow those guidelines :D

It'd be funny if we could get something which could still be abbreviated "RB" but I can't for the life of me think of anything offhand.
